Garden. Unfortunately no further progress had
been made with the issue of the garden. Adrian had now been in contact
with the Landlord and although he is happy to renew the lease of
the building, he would be visiting the nursery in October in order
to look at the area of the garden in question. Although the good
news is that more money has now been added to the “pot”
so that once permission has been granted various options may be
looked at.
Summer Fete. The summer fete was as always a great
success. Many thanks go to all the staff for their hard work and
in particular Penny Odey for running the Pimms stall. Penny has
very graciously agreed to do it all again next year!
The fete raised approx., £700 of which £250 will be
going to The Chestnut Tree Fund and the rest into the garden fund.
School Photos. The school photos were again a
success with everyone and fewer problems with the delivery and reprints
than previously. Photos will be taking place towards the end of
the year in time for Christmas and it was suggested that perhaps
instead of cramming everyone in on one day, maybe the photos could
be taken over a couple of mornings. Jemma to enquire whether this
is possible.
School Outing. It was agreed that on the whole
the outings were a great success. To this end another walk has been
arranged. This will take place on Sunday 16th October at Highdown
Towers. Meet up will be at 10.30 in the carpark. The Group will
walk and will finish with a pub lunch for those who want to stay.
A bag drop will be done nearer the time to inform parents of the
walk.
Complaints. Yet again no formal complaints had
been received at all from any parent. While this in itself was good,
it was also noted that there are many new parents and that everyone
cannot be 100% happy all the time. Both Adrian and Jemma would be
happy to receive constructive criticisms and complaints in order
to ensure that the nursery is run smoothly and efficiently and to
everyone’s satisfaction. Again it was noted that if parents
did not want to speak to Adrian or Jemma the parents group chairman,
Maria Carver, could be contacted instead.
There were a few minor niggles raised at the meeting such as aprons
not being used during painting sessions. Jemma and Adrian to address
the matter directly with the staff.
Staff Changes. There have been some major changes
since the last meeting. Claire and Aisha have now both left. Aisha’s
replacement Kristie sadly did not fit in within the environment
and has also left. Kerry, who has been on long term sick leave,
has decided not to return and Paula will be leaving at the end of
September. Alison has been taken on full time and will work alongside
Sophie upstairs and Laura will be starting shortly as Paula’s
replacement and will be working alongside Rachel downstairs.
Jemma and Adrian have decided not to replace the Managers position
for the time being as communication amongst the staff seems to be
working at present. However the situation is under constant review.
Over the coming months there will be a few students working alongside
the regular staff as part of their work experience.
Parking. Parking has now become a major problem.
Although parents have been asked politely not to park in front,
a number have been very abusive to staff and in light of this the
forecourt is now completely out of bounds for parents. A sign “Staff
Parking Only” will shortly be erected. There is a perfectly
adequate and large free car park just across the road from the nursery.
Parking tokens are available in the nursery and from local businesses.
A local policeman will be patrolling the area asking parents to
move if they continue to use the forecourt. A bag drop will shortly
take place regarding this matter.
Any Other Business:
Decorating - The nursery needs decorating again
and it is envisioned that this will be done by Adrian during the
Christmas shut down period.
Gates - The gate at the side of the building
has now been replaced and conforms to all Ofsted requirements. The
bell that was at the gate has now been removed to prevent the stampede
of excited children towards the gate every-time it rang. The gate
to the upstairs area has also been repaired.
New Toys - the nursery would very much like to
receive any toys or books that children have outgrown and are in
reasonable condition. Another bag drop is being planned to highlight
this.
Christmas Play - By popular request, Whoops-a-daisy-Angel
will be performed again at this years Christmas Party.
Halloween Party - opinion was divided as to whether
to hold a party or not. Michelle to investigate whether Rusting
ton Hall would be available to hire. If so a party would go ahead
and would take place on Friday 28th October 2005. Further details
would be issued via a bag drop.
Next Meeting. The date of the next meeting will
be advised at a later date.
